Screen Shot 2015-06-27 at 9.19.15 PMIDYLLWILD, Calif. —  More than 75 entrants are expected to take part in this year’s Independence Day Parade on Saturday July 4. This is the 14th annual parade, presented by Idyllwild Rotary.

Up to 10,000 spectators are anticipated to watch the colorful stream of floats, vehicles and local residents which will begin at 10 a.m. at Fern Valley Corners and proceed down North Circle to the center of town.

This year, Idyllwild’s Post Office staff will be Grand Marshall as a group, and the popular UCR Pipe Band from University of California Riverside will entertain. Several car clubs will participate, along with Smokey Bear and Santa Claus. Kids can enjoy games and food in the town’s center.

The American Legion Honor Guard will lead the parade. The Legion Post 800 will host a deep pit barbecue in the afternoon.

Idyllwild Rotary Club advises that the following streets will be either closed or jammed with people from 8 a.m. until noon:

Alderwood Street, Fern Valley Corners, Highway 243, Jameson and River Drives, Middle Pine Crest Avenue,  South Circle and Tahquitz Drive, Upper Pine Crest Avenue and Village Center Drive.
